Jamie Lee Curtis expressed her deep honor in bringing Diane Foley's story to life in the upcoming book "American Mother" by Colum McCann and Diane Foley. 

In a statement shared via PEOPLE, the renowned actress conveyed her reverence for the opportunity.

Curtis acknowledged the widespread familiarity with the tragic events surrounding Diane's son, journalist James Foley, who was kidnapped and brutally killed while on assignment in Syria in 2014. 

She highlighted the global impact of Jim's kidnapping and subsequent beheading, which captured the attention of the world and became an iconic moment in history.

However, Curtis emphasized that while many are aware of Jim's ordeal, few are acquainted with the remarkable resilience and strength displayed by Diane Foley in the face of unimaginable tragedy. 

She described Diane as an ordinary mother of five, a former nurse, and a literal force of nature who transformed the worst event of her life into a profound act of grace.

In her role narrating the audio edition of "American Mother," Jamie Lee Curtis aims to amplify Diane's inspiring journey and honor her unwavering resilience amidst adversity.
