In a touching reminiscence, Angela Bassett recently shared a poignant memory from her time working alongside the late Chadwick Boseman on the set of "Black Panther."

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE, Bassett recalled a memorable encounter with Boseman on her final day of shooting. "That was my last day of shooting, and we were at the falls in Warrior Falls. I had finished my assignment and Chadwick came and hugged me. And I just hugged him and just embraced him," she recounted.

Describing the atmosphere on set, Bassett remarked, "Of course, it was a glorious set filled with splendid beauty and people and music and pride."

Bassett's admiration for Boseman extended beyond his on-screen talent. She spoke highly of him as a person, especially in the wake of his untimely passing from colon cancer in August 2020. "To see the work that he was doing and to have come to know, every day, the human being that he was," she said.

Reflecting on the depth of their connection, Bassett emphasized the power of unspoken communication. "Sometimes you don't have to say much, but you can just look into one another's eyes and convey all that you mean, all that you hope," she expressed.

As she addressed Boseman's passing, Bassett acknowledged the uncertainty of the future. "You don't know what the future brings," she solemnly noted, echoing the sentiments shared by many who mourned Boseman's loss.
