Lady Gaga has broken her silence on the wave of anti-trans hate directed towards herself and Dylan Mulvaney after they marked International Women’s Day on Instagram.

In a recent post, the singer expressed her dismay over the vitriol and hatred sparked by their celebration of the day.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Gaga shared a photo of herself with Mulvaney and condemned the hateful comments they received. "It’s appalling to me that a post about National Women’s Day by Dylan Mulvaney and me would be met with such vitriol and hatred," she wrote.

Gaga denounced the notion that the backlash was merely criticism, emphasizing that the hateful comments constituted violence. "Hatred is hatred, and this kind of hatred is violence," she clarified.

Expressing her disappointment with society's response, Gaga noted the need for greater acceptance and respect towards transgender individuals. "Given the immense work that it’s obvious we still have to do as a society to make room for transgender lives to be cherished and upheld by all of us," she stated.

The Grammy-winning artist also expressed her support for Mulvaney and the transgender community, acknowledging their resilience in the face of discrimination and violence. "I feel very protective at this moment, not only of Dylan, but of the trans community who continues to lead the way with their endless grace and inspiration in the face of constant degradation, intolerance, and physical, verbal, and mental violence," Gaga remarked.

While acknowledging that she does not speak for the entire transgender community, Gaga shared her hopes for a future where all individuals are celebrated equally. "I hope all women will come together to honor us ALL for International Women’s Day, and may we do that always until THE DAY that all women are celebrated equally. That all people are celebrated equally," she wrote.

The "Just Dance" singer called for a day where people of all gender identities are recognized and celebrated, emphasizing the importance of peace and dignity for everyone. "May we all come together and be loving, accepting, warm, welcoming. May we all stand and honor the complexity and challenge of trans life," she concluded.

In closing, Gaga reiterated her commitment to standing against hatred and promoting love and acceptance. "I love people too much to allow hatred to be referred to as backlash. People deserve better," she declared.

As Lady Gaga continues to use her platform to advocate for equality and acceptance, her powerful words serve as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for transgender rights and the importance of standing up against discrimination in all its forms.
