Beloved Irish comedian and TV host Graham Norton, renowned for his wit and charm on The Graham Norton Show, has surprised his fans with an unexpected announcement of his departure from his weekend slot on Virgin Radio UK, marking the end of a memorable three-year run.

Taking to social media, the 60-year-old TV presenter shared the news, revealing that his upcoming weekend appearance would be his last on the show.

In his message, Norton expressed gratitude for the time spent at Virgin Radio, stating, "It is my final weekend of shows here at Virgin Radio."

The announcement left fans devastated, with many expressing their disappointment on Twitter. One fan lamented, "Waking up to hear Graham Norton is not going to be part of my weekends anymore is a serious kick in the a**."

"I will seriously miss you but can understand why you want your weekends back. #GrahamNorton". Another fan shared similar sentiments, writing, "Gutted to hear Graham Norton is ending his weekend shows on Virgin Radio."

A regular listener since he started there (and previously on R2 obviously) - as he’s a warm funny and engaging listener. Plus a good radio interviewer, something that’s very underrated."

Norton's illustrious career began at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where his talent quickly gained recognition. He transitioned into radio as a comedian and panelist on BBC Radio 4's Loose Ends in the early 1990s.

His knack for entertainment led to opportunities to present chat shows, culminating in the launch of his own show, So Graham Norton, which ran until 2002.

In 2001, Norton's career reached new heights when BBC entrusted him to host Comic Relief, showcasing his versatility as a presenter.

Six years later, he became the face of his own TV show, The Graham Norton Show, attracting a star-studded lineup of guests including Tom Cruise, Dame Judi Dench, and Cate Blanchett.

Looking ahead, Norton is set to host the revival of the iconic game show Wheel Of Fortune. Sharing his excitement about the new venture, Norton explained, "With Wheel Of Fortune, it’s a tried-and-tested formula.

"That’s what gave me the confidence to say yes – the game is really strong. I think even people who haven’t actually seen the show think they have. The wheel is iconic. It’s weird, it’s like it’s in our DNA – people are born knowing about Wheel Of Fortune.

As Norton bids farewell to Virgin Radio UK, fans eagerly anticipate his next chapter in the world of entertainment.
