Renowned English actor Hugh Grant has recently hinted at a potential career shift into politics, shedding light on the challenges and threats he has faced in the past. 

In a candid interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 63-year-old star of "Music And Lyrics" revealed his contemplation of entering the political arena.

Grant expressed his disillusionment with the political landscape, stating, "Switching into politics has crossed my mind." 

However, he also emphasized the daunting obstacles faced by politicians in achieving tangible results. "What I really see close up is that it's almost impossible to actually get anything done. It's just impossible," he remarked.

The actor opened up about the extreme and threatening abuse he has endured, which has left a profound impact on him and his family. 

Reflecting on his mother-in-law Susanne Eberstein's experience as a former senior member of the Swedish Parliament, Grant highlighted the challenges of navigating political waters. "You have to water down everything. It's all horse trading. And nowadays the incoming abuse is unthinkable," he revealed.

Grant candidly shared his own electoral defeat in the 2019 General Election, admitting that the experience left him "scarred." 

He recounted the abuse he received, particularly from the right, acknowledging the pervasive influence of digital platforms in shaping public discourse. "What was interesting was the abuse that came in from the right. I never know if they're real or if they're bots. But they're good. They're brilliant at what they do," he added.

Despite his contemplation of a political career, Grant acknowledged the daunting prospect of entering politics in the digital age, noting that it requires a combination of bravery and resilience. His revelations offer a glimpse into the complex realities faced by public figures navigating the contemporary political landscape.
