Jeremy Clarkson, the former Top Gear presenter who faced criticism for his comments about Meghan Markle, has reportedly been offered a "lifeline" by his bosses to continue hosting the popular game show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

The 63-year-old media personality sparked controversy with a newspaper column he wrote about the Duchess of Sussex in December 2022, leading to widespread backlash. 

However, new reports suggest that Clarkson will retain his role as the host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire despite the controversy surrounding his remarks.

According to a source at Stellify, Clarkson's apology following the backlash played a crucial role in his continued tenure as the show's host. 

Unlike Piers Morgan, who faced criticism for his comments about Meghan Markle on Good Morning Britain and refused to apologize, Clarkson's willingness to express remorse was viewed favorably by ITV executives.

"ITV has been monitoring the situation closely and assessing the public's reaction to new episodes of Millionaire featuring Clarkson as the host. With no significant negative response, they have decided to stand by him," the source explained.

In a statement, an ITV spokesperson confirmed that there are plans for more brand-new episodes of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire to air on the network later this year, indicating Clarkson's ongoing involvement with the show.

Despite the controversy surrounding his past comments, it appears that Clarkson's role as the host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire remains secure, demonstrating ITV's decision to stand by him amid public scrutiny.
