Queen Camilla Hosts Reception at Buckingham Palace to Support Survivors of Sexual Assault

Queen Camilla recently hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace to express gratitude to organizations and individuals dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual assault.
Photos shared on the royal family's social media accounts showcased Queen Camilla alongside individuals working tirelessly to combat violence against women.
During the event, Queen Camilla extended her thanks to attendees, acknowledging their commitment to aiding those enduring the darkest of times. Since her official visit to the Croydon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre in 2009, Queen Camilla has made addressing violence against women a central focus of her work.
She has visited various projects and initiatives worldwide aimed at reducing rates of sexual assault and providing support to survivors, both immediately following their ordeal and in the long term.
The reception also marked the relaunch of Queen Camilla's Wash Bags project, which offers wash kits to survivors in the immediate aftermath of an incident.
The initiative, born out of a desire to offer practical assistance and provide comfort and dignity during a difficult time, first began in 2013 with a pilot program at the Havens. The Havens, comprising three Sexual Assault Referral Centers (SARCs) based in London, were the initial recipients of the wash bags, which were distributed to victims following forensic examinations.
During her speech at the reception, Queen Camilla shared a letter from a survivor who expressed gratitude for the kindness shown by strangers during a dark time, particularly referencing the comfort provided by receiving a washbag.
The Queen also personally addressed all attendees, recognizing their diverse contributions to supporting survivors through volunteering, donations, and professional assistance.
