John Oliver Sparks Controversy with Speculation on Kate Middleton's Absence

British comedian John Oliver has stirred up controversy by adding fuel to the speculation surrounding the absence of Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, from the public eye.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen raised questions about Middleton's current situation, particularly in light of her prolonged absence since her abdominal surgery in January.

Initially hesitant to engage with the conspiracy theories surrounding Middleton's absence, John Oliver, 46, addressed the controversy following the recent uproar over a Photoshopped Mother's Day picture involving the Princess of Wales. "I thought, ‘Let’s all just ignore this, we’ve moved on’ — until the Photoshop thing," Oliver admitted. "It feels like you’re almost handling badly in an impressive way at this point."

Andy Cohen, 55, expressed skepticism about Middleton's response to the backlash over the edited family photo. "Isn’t their motto: never complain, never explain? And they had ‘her’ explaining on Twitter?" Cohen questioned.

Oliver responded with a provocative statement, suggesting the possibility that Middleton may have passed away 18 months ago and that her absence is being covered up. "There’s a non-zero chance she died 18 months ago. They might be ‘Weekend at Bernie’s’–ing this situation," Oliver remarked, referencing the film "Weekend at Bernie's" where characters pretend their deceased friend is still alive.

Clarifying his statement, Oliver emphasized that he was not asserting the truth of the speculation but highlighting its non-zero probability until proven otherwise. "I’m not saying it happened! I’m saying it’s nonzero until proven otherwise. Until you see her with a copy of today’s newspaper," he explained.

Kate Middleton's absence has been a subject of intense speculation and conspiracy theories since her release from the hospital after her surgery in January. While the royal family has remained relatively tight-lipped about Middleton's condition and whereabouts, the speculation continues to swirl, fueled in part by comments from figures like John Oliver.

As the controversy surrounding Middleton's absence persists, the public eagerly awaits further updates and clarification from the royal family regarding the Duchess's health and well-being.
