Taylor Swift's Music Returns to TikTok Amid Licensing Dispute

#NewsReport (from the WebDesk and the other news sources)

Taylor Swift fans are rejoicing as the singer's music has made a comeback on TikTok after a 10-week hiatus due to a licensing dispute between the social media app and Universal Music Group (UMG).

On Thursday, many of Taylor's songs, including "The Man" and "Me," were once again available on the TikTok app, much to the delight of her fans.

The return of Taylor's music library to TikTok comes just a week before the highly anticipated release of her next studio album, "The Tortured Poets Department," scheduled for April 19.

Fans took to TikTok to celebrate the comeback, posting videos of themselves lip-syncing to Taylor's songs like "Cruel Summer." Many also noted that their videos featuring Taylor's music were no longer muted.

The UMG-TikTok dispute began on February 1, when the label pulled all of Taylor's songs from the app, along with tracks from artists like Lady Gaga and Drake. However, only Taylor's songs have been reinstated on the platform so far.

In an open letter issued at the time, UMG highlighted three critical issues in their contract renewal discussions with TikTok: appropriate compensation for artists and songwriters, protection of human artists from the negative impacts of AI, and online safety for TikTok users.

Despite negotiations, the two parties failed to reach an agreement, leading to the decision to remove Taylor's music from TikTok. However, the recent return of her songs suggests some progress in resolving the dispute.

In a separate development, UMG and Spotify announced an expanded partnership in March, which includes additional promotional tools for artists.
