Mark Ruffalo Supports Emma Stone's Name Request

Mark Ruffalo recently extended his support to Emma Stone after she expressed her desire to be called by her real name, Emily.

The actor took to Twitter on April 27 to share an article from The Guardian discussing Stone's preference, citing quotes from The Hollywood Reporter.

In his tweet, the 56-year-old actor affectionately wrote, "Okay. We love you, Emily."

Stone, in an interview with THR, revealed her preference for being called Emily, especially by those she works closely with.

The "Easy A" actress explained that while her stage name is Emma Stone, she initially adopted it because the name Emily Stone was already taken by another actress who was a member of SAG-AFTRA before her.

Recalling a moment of realization a few years ago, Stone expressed, "For some reason, I was like, 'I can’t do it anymore. Just call me Emily.'"

Ruffalo's supportive tweet came after he praised Stone's talent in a December interview with THR, describing her as "a once-in-a-generation talent." 

He particularly commended her daring performance in "Poor Things," emphasizing her fearlessness and remarkable presence on screen.

Stone's stellar performance in "Poor Things" earned her the Best Actress Oscar in March, while Ruffalo received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor, highlighting the exceptional talent displayed by both actors in the film.
