Melissa McCarthy, the renowned Hollywood actress known for her roles in films like Bridesmaids, has recently spoken out in support of her friend Meghan Markle amidst the backlash and criticism the Duchess of Sussex has faced in recent weeks.

In an interview with Page Six, McCarthy expressed her dismay at the unwarranted attacks directed towards Meghan. "It bums me out for every woman and every person, that for no reason people just like to attack," the 53-year-old actress remarked.

Addressing the issue of unwarranted criticism, McCarthy emphasized, "A smart interesting woman that has her own life, for some reason, is incredibly threatening to some people." She added, "I always think, how inspiring! I’ve never once been threatened by someone who is amazing."

Speaking specifically about Meghan, McCarthy described her as "wonderful and awesome," highlighting the inspiration she draws from her friend. "I just think how inspiring. It’s really on the people throwing the hate," she added.

The camaraderie between McCarthy and Meghan was evident earlier in 2021 when they collaborated on a video to celebrate Meghan's 40th birthday and the launch of her mentorship program, 40×40.

The light-hearted video, which gently poked fun at Meghan's royal status, showcased their friendship and mutual respect.

Reflecting on her interaction with Meghan and Prince Harry, McCarthy praised the couple for their resilience and determination to carve out their own path. "They were so sweet and funny," she told Access Hollywood. "I just found them very inspiring. They’re carving out their own lives. They’re carving out their lives for their kids."

Meanwhile, McCarthy was recently spotted in New York attending Suffs, a musical based on the American women’s suffrage movement, demonstrating her ongoing support for empowering and impactful storytelling.
