Whoopi Goldberg Opens Up About Weight Loss with Diabetes Medications on The Kelly Clarkson Show

#NewsReport (from the WebDesk and the other news sources)

Whoopi Goldberg recently discussed her weight loss journey and the diabetes medications, like Mounjaro and Ozempic, that have helped her shed pounds.

During her appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show on May 13, the host of The View revealed, "I've lost the weight of almost two people."

Whoopi shared, "I’m doing that wonderful little shot that works for folks who need some help, and it’s been really good for me."

Goldberg, who previously didn't focus much on her weight gain, had a moment of realization while filming Till. A reviewer mistakenly thought she was wearing a fat suit for her role as Alma Carthan, Mamie Till-Mobley’s mother. At that time, she weighed nearly 300 pounds. "I was indignant. I was like, ‘This is not a fat suit. This is me!’ And then you see," she remarked.

She explained how easy it is to overlook weight gain. "You’re living your life and doing what you need to do — and that’s the last thing you’re thinking about because you’ve got other stuff on your mind," Whoopi told Kelly. When she finally realized her weight gain, she said, "Well, damn." She added that others around her assumed she was aware of it.

In addition to discussing her weight loss, Whoopi talked about her new memoir, Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me, which was released earlier this month. Reflecting on her struggles with addiction, both in childhood and later in life, she candidly shared, "I thought I could handle the cocaine thing. It didn’t seem dangerous. Everybody seemed to have access to it, even on TV and movie sets."

Goldberg concluded by recounting a pivotal moment that led her to confront her addiction. "Finally, I had one of those slap-in-the-face moments that make you see pretty clearly that you’ve hit bottom," she noted.

Whoopi's openness about her experiences with weight loss and addiction provides a poignant and relatable narrative, emphasizing the importance of health and self-awareness.
