Joy Behar, co-host of The View, recently shared her admiration for Beyoncé's reinterpretation of Dolly Parton's 1973 classic "Jolene." Speaking on the Behind the Table podcast, the 81-year-old expressed her preference for Beyoncé's version of the song.

"I like the subject of Beyoncé taking over the lyrics," Joy remarked during the podcast episode.

She went on to explain her perspective, stating, "The original thing with Dolly Parton is so, like, anti-feminist, worrying about some good-looking woman taking your man. If it's so easy to take your man, then take him."

Joy praised Beyoncé's rendition, particularly highlighting the shift in narrative from Dolly's original version. In Beyoncé's "Cowboy Carter" iteration of "Jolene," Joy found a more assertive tone, with lyrics serving as a warning rather than an emotional plea.

Referring to a lyric from Beyoncé's track, Joy emphasized, "You don't want this smoke, so shoot your shot with someone else. You heard me."

Notably, Dolly Parton herself praised Beyoncé's take on "Jolene" and even appeared in the song's introduction.

In addition to discussing Beyoncé's reinterpretation, Joy shared a memorable encounter with Dolly Parton, where she persuaded the country music icon to embrace the label of feminism.

Recalling the conversation, Joy recounted, "I said, 'Well, do you believe that women should get the same amount of money as men?' She said, 'Yes.' I said, 'Then, you're a feminist.' She said, 'I guess I am.'"

Concluding her thoughts, Joy Behar lauded Dolly Parton as "the best in the business."
