Sydney Sweeney, known for her role as Cassie Howard in the hit series Euphoria, recently shared some harrowing behind-the-scenes insights during her appearance on Hot Ones. 

The 26-year-old actress delved into the filming process of an infamous scene from Euphoria Season 2, where her character Cassie endures a distressing moment of violent vomiting in a hot tub.

Reflecting on the unconventional methods employed for filming such scenes, Sweeney revealed that while the typical practice involves using a "cup of mushed-up anything" mixed with milk and water, creator Sam Levinson opted for a more visceral approach.

Levinson's vision demanded realism, leading the production team to employ a pump and a hidden pipe taped onto Sweeney's body, with CGI enhancing the effect up to her neck. Additionally, Sweeney had to wear a horse bit in her mouth, amplifying the authenticity of the scene.

Describing the ordeal, Sweeney recounted, "During that scene, they’re filling my mouth with throw-up, and then I open my mouth and it just starts shooting out of my mouth. And it was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever experienced."

Despite the unpleasant nature of the filming process, Sweeney's commitment to her character shone through in the final cut, capturing one of Cassie's many poignant moments on the show. 

The scene, witnessed by Cassie's friends including Maddy Perez (portrayed by Alexa Demie) and Nate Jacobs (played by Jacob Elordi), effectively conveys the character's emotional turmoil.

Sweeney's compelling portrayal of Cassie garnered critical acclaim, earning her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2022. Her dedication to delivering authenticity and depth to her character underscores her talent and commitment as an actress on the acclaimed series Euphoria.
