Kevin Costner Applauds Son Hayes for Role in Upcoming Western Film "Horizon: An American Saga"

Kevin Costner, the renowned actor and filmmaker, has expressed admiration for his son Hayes's performance in the upcoming epic Western movie, Horizon: An American Saga.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Costner discussed his son's debut in the $100 million production, set to be released on June 28.

Reflecting on watching his son grow up, Costner humorously remarked, "I was watching him grow up and I was thinking, 'Man, I better get with it and make this movie.'" The "Yellowstone" actor praised Hayes's performance, stating, "He's very good in the small part that he's done and that he has a real impact on the movie."

In a previous interview with PEOPLE magazine in 2022, Costner revealed his deliberate decision to cast Hayes in the film. "He's very good, but I kind of did it on purpose, so he could be hanging out with me," confessed Costner. "The same thing for Cayden, same thing for Grace. I'm like any other parent, I'm trying to figure out, like, 'This is really neat. You should come to be with me.'"

The filming of Costner's new project took place in Utah, where he plans to establish Territory Film Studios. Notably, Costner made his directorial debut in 1990 with "Dances with Wolves," a film in which he played the lead character Lieutenant John Dunbar. 

The movie received critical acclaim, winning Best Picture and Best Director for Costner at the Oscars, among other accolades. "Horizon" marks Costner's return to directing since "Open Range" premiered in 2003.
